This song was the toughest to write, but is the easiest to explain. Senior year I had a best friend who turned out to be the worst influence that I’ve ever had present in my life. When the time came to show his reliability and friendship, he failed, time and time again. The most serious event just about caused my death. It took me three years to write this song, but I finally did it. Now that I’ve done this, I can finally say I am over the situation. This song was influenced by the Maine, by The Dance Party, and Dashboard Confessional.
What did you get out of this? Let’s go back and reminisce, was this all part of your plan?
You took me for such a ride, and even though it wasn’t right, you lied to all my friends
All these changes, you never stay the same, and I hate you
You left me, lying there all alone, when I came to, you were already home, get out, and never come back again, I can’t believe I ever called you my friend
How could you tell all those lies, and still think that we’d be fine? I don’t understand
You were my best friend, but I never want to see you again, it’s far too gone to mend

Hey everyone. Yes, I know, I said electrical guitar…What an idiot. Haha, anyways, I met Matt Nathanson last night and asked him to do a co-write with me today. Hopefully, this makes its way back to Matt and he agrees to work on this with me. Like I said, I have the whole song written now, I just wanted to give a little sample of what I’ve got here.
For fans of everything, obviously, but in particular: blink-182, Matt Nathanson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dashboard Confessional, The Maine, New Found Glory, and Britney Spears.

Here is Part Two of the pictures from the Matt Nathanson show on Tuesday, September 27! What a great show!
Matt’s Pedalboard ^ (again)
Like I said in my last posting, what an awesome night. I highly recommend going to see this dude. If you do, start throwing my name around, and hopefully that co-write will come through and materialize! Thanks!
Matt Nathanson Concert :)
So, last night was a great, great adventurous kind of night! My friend Katie and I took the metro down to DC to see Matt Nathanson’s concert at the 9 30 Club. Vanessa Carlton opened up for him, and she was pretty good. She did sound like she had a child’s voice, even though she was thirty, but she was a good songwriter. She wrote that one song that everyone knows (“A Thousand Miles”) and it brought chills to me. Very well-written song. Then Matt Nathanson came on, and he was great. His band was very tight and they sounded way better live than on record. The full band, rockier side of Matt Nathanson was definitely something I dug, and reminded me of how we play live. So yes, I was into it. Anyways, afterwards, I bought the Modern Love vinyl and we headed upstairs to meet Matt. I ended up talking with Matt’s guitarist, Aaron, for about five minutes about one of his custom guitars that I also have. His was a red Fender Telecaster with P90 pickups, where as mine has a purple sparkle finish with the same pickup/pickguard setup. We met some cool friends in line, and possibly got a show playing for a graduation party, which was fun to talk about. Then we went Matt, took pictures, got autographs, and talked to him about the show and my music. He made a comment about the new band t-shirts, and I thought that was cool. He’s a pretty funny guy. Afterwards, we headed back to the metro to ride back BUT…..it was closed! NOW WHAT? We took a cab to Rosslyn, walked around tagging places with Tom Lohrmann merch. We got picked up by my brother after a while, drove home, and went our separate ways to end the great night. Pictures after the jump.
More pictures in my next posting! :)

Recording the New Single! (“Just One Night”)
So, we’ve been recording the new single over the past couple of days. On Friday morning, we worked on the bass parts, and today, I finished up vocals. I’m mixing as we speak along with watching some great college football. The song will be mastered tomorrow night, and will be available on iTunes this coming Friday, September 16th! Here are some shots from recording!
The purple Fender Telecaster was used exclusively for this recording, along with the Ibanez Acoustic.
None of these guitars were used, other than the Fender Custom Precision Bass, but I thought I would throw this in here with the rest.
I should have taken a screen shot because this turned out awful!
Yes, we stopped to play pool with our mastering engineer, Richard Wynne, when we needed a quick break.
